Mänttä Art Festival is an event of contemporary art representing Finnish visual art made by the artists of today. Although there are always established names in the exhibition, Mänttä Art Festival is known as a show of experimental and daring art. The idea of the festival is to give to contemporary art a chance and space to be seen. It also helps the audience to understand the framework of the visual art of today, sometimes through hard discussion. The artists of the exhibition are invited every year by the curator  whom the organizing association calls to the task. The curator has the dictatorship of choosing the artists.  The festival is organized by a private associaton Mäntän kuvataiteen ystävät ry , The Friends of Mänttä Art Festival.
